This historic Colonial Revival house from the 1930s (with small additions in the 1980s), needed a complete remodel and further additions to fulfill the aspirations of our clients and transform it into the house that best suited their needs. It was important to them to maintain the integrity of the original house and design, but elevate it to the way we live today. From a new and expanded Kitchen and Family Room where once an exterior courtyard existed, to a common play area in the split level home for all of the kids to access directly were part of the creative solutions to what was a meandering internal flow. The rear yard was dropped to provide for level access from the rear of the house and the Pool House was added to complete the overall plan for the property. Upgrades from windows to roofing and siding are going to secure at least another 100 years of life for this fantastic home.
It was a pleasure to work with Alice Lane and the owner for the interior design, and Allwood Construction for the revival of the home.
