Without wanting to appear too large, the owners of this property wished to take the simple and elegant form of a traditional Ranch style house and provide for large vaulted areas within the house in a very modern way. By raising the standard eight foot plate height in the core area of the house by 24 inches, we were able to achieve a front to back vault of approximately 15 feet. In order to accentuate this vault, the two-sided fireplace was located in the center between the Family Room and the Living Room to reach that maximum height and establish itself as an anchor element in the space. Exaggerated trim was used to further distinguish it. The Kitchen is open to the casual dining area and Family Room as well as access and views to the back yard.
Bedrooms are also vaulted, as is the master bathroom. The luxurious master bathroom has a raised onyx-topped vanity which is lit from below, and has obscured glass to both the shower and the water closet, so as not to distinguish one from the other and give balance to the space. The focal point is the vessel tub at the far end with private exterior views and lots of natural light.
