This Modern home incorporates smooth stucco and cedar siding in conjunction with flat roof areas and standing seam gabled roof forms to create distinctions between key areas and elements of the house. The cedar sided geometric forms provide loft spaces for the bedroom suites below and sit slightly out of alignment with the stucco walls below to create interest and a sense of movement. They also provide shade to the bedroom windows as a natural overhang. As a single story house, the volumes created at each gabled roof are vast and give the inhabitant a sense of scale throughout the house. The owners are art enthusiasts and collectors, so a Gallery (hallway) was provided along the north side of one of the wings of the house with a repeated window system to provide enjoyment of the art from the interior and the exterior.
